Jarrow Formulas MK-7

Description

Jarrow Formulas MK-7 supplies vitamin K2 in the menaquinone-7 form, produced by fermentation with Bacillus subtilis subsp. natto, the same organism used to make the traditional Japanese food natto.

Vitamin K comes in more than one form. K1 is found in leafy greens such as spinach, while K2 occurs in animal products and fermented foods. MK-7 is the longer-acting form of K2: it stays active in the body longer than K1 or MK-4 and is absorbed more readily than the K1 in leafy greens. Its main job is to help carboxylate, or activate, specific proteins that direct calcium into bone, which is why practitioners often pair it with calcium and vitamin D3.
